If you have followed me long on social media, you know I have a passion for running, and everyone in my family runs in some capacity. My oldest son races as part of the Fulton High School Track Team, so we are at many of his races.
Last night was the Montgomery City Early Invite, which was cold and wet. I can’t remember the last time I saw high school athletes running in gear that wasn’t designed for performance. It’s early in the season, so they still have time to figure it out, but if you are looking through images and notice some unique attire, you know why.
I love getting to know each of the kids and seeing what they can do. I wish I had time to work with a few of them to help them learn how to strategize a race and think through their race beyond just what they have always done. Alas, I’m not their coach.
I’ll cheer on the athletes at as many meets as possible. I love seeing them grow and challenge themselves to new feats.
