It’s been a busy month. We’ve been going to track meets throughout Mid-Missouri to capture Fulton athletes. One of the best aspects of going to each of the meets is watching these kids improve and getting to know their journey along the way.
It takes about ten days to see hard work pay off. Meaning the work you do today won’t truly impact your performance for ten days.
All season you watch, these athletes learn from each meet, conquer their mental challenges, and then you see improvements. For some athletes, the improvements are little. There is only so much time you can shave on in a 100 or 200. For others, like my son Noah, you can see 30+ seconds shaved off.
Like most things, physical training is only a portion of the battle. The mind can be so powerful. It can hold us back or, with the right work, allow us to break through barriers we never thought possible.
That is what I like about being around high school and college kids. They are often eager to learn, and really, for the most part, it’s helping them see what they are truly capable of.
